Content Marketing Specialist

Job Description


The Marketing Content Specialist has excellent copywriting and editing skills, plus image/graphic design skills to support an established e-commerce business with a small-but-growing social media presence. A familiarity with boating and/or boatbuilding is highly desirable, but anyone who has a natural curiosity about craftsmanship, and understands what’s important to DIY makers and hobbyist woodworkers, can be successful in this role.  




The primary responsibilities of this job include regular production and updating of web-facing content, such as:  
  • E-commerce product listings (written descriptions, images, and specs/data) 
  • Email newsletters (including lead gathering and lead funnels) 
  • Social media posts (currently Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) 
  • Blog posts (in connection with email/social campaigns) 
  • Landing pages 




Additional responsibilities may include the following, depending on the applicant’s skill set and interest levels in:  
  • E-Commerce product catalog management, including integrations with online marketplaces 
  • Customer support: responding to basic inquiries via phone, email, or social media messages and escalating tickets to sales or management as needed. 
  • Digital ad management (google & social media ads) 




Skills & Experience Needed: 
  • Copywriting: Excellent writing skills and ability to tell a compelling story with actionable results.  
  • Visual Content: smartphone photography/video skills, graphic design software (Canva) 
  • Marketing: Strong grasp of marketing lead gen, funnels, and branding for consumer-facing products 
  • Superior organizational skills coordinating a lot of moving parts, ensuring that calendars and deadlines are met reliably and consistently. 
  • Associates Degree (Bachelors preferred) in english, marketing, graphic design or equivalent on-the-job training, plus a minimum of 2-5 years professional experience in a related field.

  • CMS: BigCommerce 
  • CRM & Mailing List management: Mailchimp 
  • Cloud Office: Google Suite 
  • Graphic Design: Canva 
  • Social Media Management: Later.com, Facebook/Meta for Business 
  • Customer Communications/Support Ticketing: SupportBee 




If you don’t have direct experience with one or more of these specific technologies, please describe what other comparable systems you have worked with and your comfort level with learning new technologies. 




Location & Work Hours 

This is an hourly position averaging 20 hours/week, located in Port Townsend, WA. At least one day per week in Port Townsend is required, but many day-to-day tasks can be performed remotely. Business hours are 9-5, Monday through Friday. For the right person, this could grow into a full-time position in the future. Position becomes benefits eligible at 30 hours/week, including medical, dental, vision, and 401k including company match.
