Compensation: $80,000-$120,000 base salary (negotiable based on experience) plus bonus potential

 

Location: This position is onsite in Scottsdale, Arizona. Occasional hybrid and work-from-home options are available for tenured employees, however new employees are expected to work in the office daily.

Design Engineer Role Summary:
  • Lead Technical Expert
  • Oversee completion of all assigned design team projects on time
  • Ensure compliance with established standards on all projects
  • Perform design engineer-level evaluations
  • Conduct technical training for designers




Responsibilities:

Project Coordination
  • Attend internal and external project kickoff and coordination meetings.
  • Seek clarity from the Project Manager on the project scope and client coordination requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Professional Engineer on code compliance or technical inquiries.
  • Guide the design team in executing project plans set by the project manager.
  • Ensure timely completion of all design team projects with allocated resources.
  • Immediately report any project issues, including timeline or resource challenges, to the project manager.

Project Design Oversight and Code Compliance
  • Provide design guidance to the team.
  • Verify that designs meet the defined project scope.
  • Communicate with vendors, third-party consultants, and city officials as needed to complete designs.
  • Assist with design tasks as required.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC)
  • Conduct comprehensive QA/QC reviews for all completed work.
  • Offer feedback, corrections, and redline adjustments to the team.
  • Identify technical improvement opportunities within the team.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to drive continuous improvement based on review results.

Training and Development
  • Recognize and address any skill gaps within the team.
  • Lead technical training sessions for the design team.
  • Propose general training topics to the Professional Engineer.
