Engineering Manager, Growth

San Francisco, CA

Posted: 02/17/2026 Industry: Engineering Job Number: 3542968 Pay Rate: 180000/year - 180000/year

Job Description

Location: 100% remote, anywhere in the US, but observing 10am-3pm PST working hours

Compensation: $180,000 plus bonus and equity

We’re hiring a highly technical, growth-oriented Engineering Manager to lead a small, focused team building high-impact digital acquisition and conversion experiences.

This is not a traditional people-management role. You’ll operate as a player-coach—writing code yourself while leading a lean team responsible for the entire journey from website visit to form submission to checkout.

If you think like both an architect and an optimizer—and enjoy working closely with marketing and sales to directly influence revenue—this role is for you.

What You’ll Own

End-to-End Growth Engineering

You will lead development across the full acquisition-to-conversion lifecycle, including:
  • Marketing website infrastructure
  • Landing pages and lead magnets
  • Form flows and data capture
  • Pricing logic and checkout systems
  • Conversion optimization initiatives

Technical Architecture & Performance
  • Ensure seamless data flow between marketing systems and transactional experiences
  • Improve site speed, performance, crawlability, and overall user experience
  • Implement structured data and modern SEO best practices
  • Optimize conversion funnels using behavioral and performance insights

AI-Driven Engineering
  • Champion AI-assisted development workflows to improve velocity and quality
  • Leverage modern AI coding tools to streamline repetitive tasks and increase output
  • Help build an engineering culture that embraces automation and efficiency

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Work closely with Marketing and Sales to support campaigns, lead generation programs, and growth initiatives
  • Translate growth objectives into scalable technical solutions
  • Enable non-technical stakeholders to publish and manage content efficiently

Leadership Expectations
  • Manage a team of 3–4 engineers
  • Remain hands-on in the code (~20–30% of your time)
  • Oversee deployments, code reviews, and CI/CD processes
  • Drive a high-performance, execution-focused team culture
  • Help hire additional full-stack engineers as the team expands later this year

What We’re Looking For

Experience
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience
  • 2+ years in a formal leadership or team management role
  • Experience leading small, high-output engineering teams

Technical Background
  • Strong WordPress expertise (customization, APIs, publishing workflows)
  • Modern front-end and full-stack development experience
  • Experience building or optimizing checkout flows, pricing engines, or conversion systems
  • Deep understanding of technical SEO and site performance principles

Mindset
  • Architect-level thinker with a growth and experimentation mindset
  • Data-driven and analytical
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving environments
  • Strong communicator who thrives in cross-functional partnerships
  • Willing to roll up your sleeves and build

Why This Role Stands Out
  • High ownership and visibility across revenue-driving systems
  • Direct impact on growth and conversion performance
  • Lean, focused team with real autonomy
  • Competitive compensation — we move decisively for the right candidate
