Up to 6 openings on multiple shifts immediately available.

 

Compensation: Up to $80/hour plus overtime (10 hours weekly is available) 11 paid holidays, multiple weeks PTO, and full healthcare benefits.

 

Location: Merritt Island, Florida. These positions are hybrid WFH and onsite at a space rocket facility with some work-from-home throughout the week.

 

Positions are 6-24 month contract-to-hire opportunities with high possibility to convert to FTE.

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists and engineers, this position supports production and manufacturing groups across the company by crafting automated production machinery and establishing standards, processes, and guides for the design of control systems for spaceflight vehicle manufacturing and production. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of controlsconceptualization, design, configuration, verification, installation, testing, and support. Through conversations with internal customers and external vendors, you will develop controls processes and standards while supporting tooling control projects from inception through commissioning as well as supporting the machinery on the production floor by troubleshooting problems in real time. This position specializes in tooling through design, specifications and post commission support. Additionally, you will support requests from development labs for specialty equipment and other emergent needs by providing rapid turnaround of well-designed and cost-efficient systems. Critical production support is the mainstay of this position where you will be the first responder to controls related stop production issues and will be the focal solution provider in these instances.

Qualifications:



  • Strong abilities in all phases of control and automation production machinery from cradle to grave including design, process definition and simplification, deployment, qualification, troubleshooting code as well as electro-mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with design, procurement, assembly, commissioning, and maintenance of automated equipment/machinery used for processing aerospace vehicle and component production or ground support equipment.
  • Experience in building, maintaining, and installing assembly machinery, machine tool, production automation, test automation machinery, robotic work cells, fabrication machinery, automated guidedvehicles, etc. This is a machine and tooling position, responsible for ensuring production automation machinery functions as needed.
  • Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • Minimum of a bachelors college degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical, structural, industrial, or manufacturing engineering; or other major requiring engineering or manufacturing core courses
  • 5 years’ experience with mechanical systems (mechanisms, power transmission components, hydraulics, fluids systems, etc.), electrical systems/components, control systems, support frames/structures, and/or lifting fixtures.
  • Experience coordinating and prioritizing work
  • Familiarity manipulating models and reading drawings/schematics
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.





Desired (but not required) experience:
  • Experience with CAD modeling and drawings in PTC Creo.
  • Experience with revision control and data configuration in Windchill.
  • Experience authoring and executing maintenance work orders
  • Experience working on aerospace development programs, production lines, or field operations in both design and hands-on roles; experience on commercial development programs a plus
  • Extremely customer focused with strong communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances
  • Hands on fabrication, assembly, or maintenance experience
  • Familiar with various control systems standards such as IEC 61131, ANSI B11, NFPA 79, and RIA 15.06
  • Experience with writing and developing software in a high-level language such as Python, C#, etc.
  • Excellent technical writing, grammar, and presentation experience
  • Experience with electrical verification of machines
  • Experience with process automation equipment & tooling
