Litigation Associate

Rainier Recruiting is partnering with a respected, full-service California law firm to hire a Litigation Associate with 2–3 years of business and commercial litigation experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career attorney who wants meaningful responsibility, strong mentorship, and long-term growth within a collaborative mid-sized firm environment.

This firm brings together attorneys across multiple practice areas to serve a diverse client base, allowing associates to work alongside experienced subject-matter specialists while developing both legal expertise and business acumen. Compensation: $145,000 – $165,000

Location: Offices in the downtown San Jose and Pleasanton, California areas. Occasional travel between office locations may be required.

Requirements
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in the California State Bar
  • Strong working knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure and Evidence Code
  • Experience in private practice litigation, including responsibility for portions of client matters under supervision
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
  • Interest in developing a long-term career with a collaborative mid-sized law firm

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation documents with precision
  • Assist in case strategy development, discovery planning, and trial preparation
  • Participate in settlement negotiations, hearings, court appearances, and trials
  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas to provide comprehensive client support

Eric first learned how to find top-quality candidates and conduct effective interviews while still in school in 2008. In all his jobs since, he used that knowledge to help the company hire. In 2018, Eric became a full-time recruiter, mainly working on roles in the industrial and skilled trades industries. Since then, he has hired candidates from all industry sectors and walks of life.

Eric joined Rainier Recruiting in 2021, working from his home in the beautiful Willamette Valley in Oregon. Outside work, Eric enjoys playing tabletop games and spending time with his wife and two boys. Eric is one of the few Rainier Recruiting employees with a cat rather than a dog. His cat, Pirate, enjoys sitting on the keyboard while Eric tries to write emails. Pirate is especially fond of the letter rrrr.
