Structures Technician III (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Rocket Park – Merritt Island, FL

Company: Blue Origin

Pay: $42/hr + up to 10 hrs/week overtime

Openings: 54 | Contract: 6 months (conversion to FTE possible)

Blue Origin is hiring experienced Structures Technicians to support precision drilling and assembly on flight hardware. This is a hands-on aerospace manufacturing role focused on drilling and fastening composite and metal structures. No entry-level candidates.

Shifts (select primary preference)
  • A: Mon–Thurs, 6: 00 AM–4: 30 PM
  • B: Mon–Thurs (alternate hours)
  • C: Fri–Sun, 12-hr day shift
  • D (Highest Need): Fri–Sun, 12-hr night shift

What You’ll Do
  • Drill close-tolerance holes in composite and metallic structures
  • Perform drill-and-fill operations on engine and vehicle hardware
  • Install structural fasteners to engineering specs
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
  • Use precision tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers)
  • Work safely at heights using ladders, lifts, and work stands
  • Maintain clean work areas (5S standards)

Required Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years aerospace structures experience
  • Proven close-tolerance drilling experience (composites & metals)
  • Experience with power-feed drills (Quackenbush preferred)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Comfortable working at heights; able to lift 50 lbs
  • ITAR eligible (non-expired documentation required)

Preferred
  • Sheet Metal Technician background
  • A&P License
  • Trade school or technical certification
  • Forklift or crane experience
  • Willingness to work overtime/weekends

Interview & Contract Details
  • 30-minute technical interview (Teams)
  • Onsite role; training provided
  • Must be able to start within 2 weeks
  • Strong potential to convert to full-time

Candidates must be able to answer technical questions on:
  • Close-tolerance drilling
  • #30 drill bit decimal conversion
  • Hole inspection methods
  • Fastener experience
  • Blueprint reading proficiency
