Outside Sales Representative – Structural Steel

Territory: Tacoma, WA to Bellingham, WA Location: Remote / Field-Based (candidate should live in or near the territory)

Salary Range: $82, 000 – $140, 000 annually

Typical Hiring Range: $82, 000 – $100, 000 annually

Position Type: Full Time | Day Shift

Education: 4-Year Degree preferred

Travel: frequent travel throughout the territory

About the Opportunity

Our client, an established steel distribution company serving the Pacific Northwest, is seeking an experienced Outside Sales Representative to grow existing accounts and develop new business throughout Western Washington. This role is ideal for a motivated sales professional with structural steel sales experience who enjoys building relationships, solving customer challenges, and driving growth.

What You'll Do
  • Grow existing accounts and develop new business opportunities
  • Build strong customer relationships through in-person visits, video meetings, and phone calls
  • Promote value-added services, inventory programs, and cost-saving solutions
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers
  • Partner with warehouse, logistics, and inside sales teams to ensure exceptional service
  • Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
  • Travel throughout the territory to strengthen customer relationships and identify opportunities
  • Track customer activity and opportunities in Microsoft Teams
  • Share market insights and sales updates with leadership

Qualifications

Required
  • 1-3 years of experience selling structural steel
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain customer relationships
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to identify customer needs and develop effective solutions
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage a sales territory
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Teams
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the assigned territory

Preferred
  • Experience working for a steel service center, metals distributor, fabricator, or construction-related supplier
  • Knowledge of structural steel products and applications
  • Experience coordinating with operations, purchasing, and logistics teams to support customer needs
