About the Opportunity

An established global manufacturer serving the commercial and residential construction industry is seeking an experienced Regional Sales Director to lead a high-performing team across the Northeast and Midwest. This is an excellent opportunity to inherit a successful region, coach an experienced sales organization, and help shape the next phase of growth.

This is not a player-coach role. Rather than carrying an individual sales quota, you'll focus on developing people, driving regional strategy, strengthening channel relationships, and helping the team execute long-term growth initiatives.

The business has consistently achieved its annual sales goals and is looking for a leader who can build on that momentum through coaching, strategic thinking, and disciplined execution.

What You'll Do
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Business Development Managers and technical sales professionals.
  • Drive regional strategy focused on profitable, sustainable growth rather than transactional selling.
  • Mentor experienced sales professionals and help modernize sales approaches through coaching and leadership.
  • Partner with independent manufacturers' representative agencies and support their success through your regional team.
  • Work closely with distribution partners while influencing contractors, builders, engineers, and other end users throughout the sales cycle.
  • Develop annual business plans, forecasts, and growth strategies for the region.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, Operations, and Executive Leadership on strategic initiatives.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop future members of the regional sales team as the organization continues to grow.
  • Ensure consistent execution of sales processes and performance expectations across the region.

What We're Looking For
  • 7–10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience within construction products, building products, HVAC, plumbing, hydronics, mechanical systems, industrial manufacturing, or a related B2B industry.
  • Experience leading and developing outside sales teams.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills with a passion for helping others succeed.
  • Experience working through both distribution and independent representative channels.
  • Ability to think strategically while maintaining accountability for execution.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing long sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a performance-driven environment with ambitious annual growth objectives.

Preferred Background

Candidates may come from industries such as:
  • Building products
  • Mechanical systems
  • Plumbing products
  • HVAC
  • Hydronics
  • Industrial manufacturing
  • Construction materials
  • Commercial construction sales
  • Mechanical representative agencies

Travel

Approximately 50% travel throughout the assigned region, including customer visits, team coaching, and company meetings.

If you're an experienced sales leader who enjoys developing people, building strategy, and leading high-performing regional teams, we'd love to hear from you.
