Rainier Recruiting has partnered with a full-service shipyard and large commercial boat builder that specializes in the repair and build of various vessels. Compensation: $95k- $125k base salary (negotiable)

Location: This position has opportunities for hybrid work in Washington.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes bids and prepares estimates for designated projects, generating comprehensive cost assessments for ship repair and other marine endeavors.
  • Drafts proposals, submittals, estimates, and bid summary sheets.
  • Formulates detailed specifications and estimates for marine projects.
  • Identifies and communicates any special requirements outlined in estimates to owners.
  • Communicates bonding and security requirements to owners and the controller.
  • Conducts thorough reviews of customer specifications, drawings, and technical data.
  • Creates a detailed itemized listing of necessary work tasks based on bid request examination.
  • Generates estimates for labor, materials, and subcontractor costs for all required work.
  • Calculates craft hours and subcontractor estimates for projects.
  • Develops lists of long lead and critical materials as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, construction management, or engineering) with a minimum of 4 years of experience in marine and/or marine engineering, or an associate degree with at least 10 years of experience.
  • Capability to obtain a TSA TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in marine engineering, or an associate degree with at least 10 years of experience.
  • Profound background, expertise, and practical knowledge in marine design and engineering, including familiarity with materials utilized in marine construction.
  • Comprehensive understanding of new ship construction, repair, and conversion, encompassing various vessel types, systems, and components.

Eric first learned how to find top-quality candidates and conduct effective interviews while still in school in 2008. In all his jobs since, he used that knowledge to help the company hire. In 2018, Eric became a full-time recruiter, mainly working on roles in the industrial and skilled trades industries. Since then, he has hired candidates from all industry sectors and walks of life.

Eric joined Rainier Recruiting in 2021, working from his home in the beautiful Willamette Valley in Oregon. Outside work, Eric enjoys playing tabletop games and spending time with his wife and two boys. Eric is one of the few Rainier Recruiting employees with a cat rather than a dog. His cat, Pirate, enjoys sitting on the keyboard while Eric tries to write emails. Pirate is especially fond of the letter rrrr.
