Job Description


Rainier Recruiting is partnering with a cutting-edge blockchain solutions and web3 applications company in New York who is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to scale and lead our engineering team. This individual will bring a deep understanding of blockchain and distributed systems, coupled with a proven ability to lead and inspire teams. Reporting directly to the executive leadership, this role will be pivotal in driving the growth and evolution of our platform. Compensation: $300,000 to $400,000 salary plus significant equity (negotiable)







Location: Hybrid onsite in Manhattan, New York City. Employees are expected to work in office Mon-Thurs and can work remotely on Fridays. Full relocation assistance is available for the most qualified candidate.

Key Responsibilities:




Strategic Leadership
  • Transform product and business goals into actionable technical strategies and roadmaps.
  • Oversee key architectural and technical decisions to ensure scalability and innovation.
  • Balance the need for new features with maintaining platform stability and addressing technical debt.
  • Develop transparent processes to improve communication and operational efficiency.

Team Leadership
  • Build and expand high-performing engineering teams, both remote and on-site.
  • Coach and mentor engineering leaders and team members to foster growth and expertise.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Define success metrics and create clear development pathways for team members.

Technical Direction
  • Guide the architecture and development of our blockchain platform.
  • Ensure robust security measures are implemented across all systems.
  • Drive innovative yet practical technical solutions for complex challenges.
  • Uphold high standards in code quality, system reliability, and documentation.

Key Qualifications

Leadership Experience
  • 10+ years in engineering roles, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to manage and scale engineering teams of 10+ members, particularly in payments or crypto industries.
  • Experience leading both distributed and on-site teams.
  • Strong background in mentoring and retaining top engineering talent.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting and building high-performing teams.

Technical Expertise
  • Extensive knowledge of blockchain technologies, including EVM-compatible and non-EVM chains (e.g., Cosmos, Solana).
  • Proficient in smart contract development (Solidity, Rust) and token standards (ERC20, ERC721, ERC4337).
  • Strong foundation in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Expert in secure financial systems architecture and development.
  • Familiarity with server-side languages (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, C++) and CI/CD workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud environments, including certifications.
  • Knowledge of data pipelines, ETL processes, SQL/NoSQL databases, and tools like Kafka and Redis.

  • Excellent communicator who can engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Adaptability to navigate the rapidly evolving blockchain space, including Ethereum advancements, Layer 2 scaling, DeFi, and tokenomics.
